As Chelsea Clinton's upcoming nuptials this weekend to Marc Mevinsky, get closer and closer, sources say the former first daughter is ready to give her overly involved papa, Bill Clinton, the boot. According to sources close to the Clintons, Chelsea has been trying to remind her dad that it's her wedding, and she wants to keep the celebration low-key with just family and close friends. Unfortunately, the former President's not exactly one to stand back in the shadows and let someone else in the family take the spotlight (as we saw during his wife, Hillary Clinton's presidential run). Is Chelsea Clinton Getting Married?
"What daddy wouldn't be on cloud nine about his daughter's upcoming wedding," a family friend told PopEater's Rob Shuter. "The only problem is that when your father is ex-President Bill, a man with a healthy ego, everything starts to become about him."
Rather than abiding by his daughter's wish for a small, intimate affair, Bill wants a lavish soiree and with the guest list already topping 400, it clearly won't be just family and dear friends. Still, certain big time associates of the Clinton's, like Hillary's boss, President Barack Obama and his wife, First Lady Michelle Obama were left off from the guest list. Likewise, Bill's celebrity chums, like Oprah, Barbara Streisand and Stephen Spielberg, didn't get the nuptial nod.
Still, we're sure it's going to be a pretty spectacular shindig, and although none of the guests have been given the location yet, insiders say it will be within driving distance of New York City. And we're guessing the bride will be in Vera Wang, since Chelsea and her mom were spotted heading into the famed bridal designer's store last weekend, likely for a last-minute fitting. But besides those Clinton-Mevinsky wedding tidbits, we'll have to wait until after Chelsea's big day to find out the rest of the details. More Details About Chelsea Clinton’s Wedding
"The guidelines are we don't talk about the wedding, we just enjoy each other," Chelsea's soon-to-be, father-in-law, Ed Mezvinskiy told Inside Edition.
Still, we hope for the bride's sake that her famous father remembers that it's his daughter's special day, so everyone can actually "just enjoy each other". Wedding Day Disasters
