One woman's desperate plea for Chelsea Clinton to move her wedding date.
While the world may be eagerly anticipating former First Daughter Chelsea Clinton's upcoming wedding to investment banker Marc Mezvinsky, there is one woman who is not.
Emn Haddad-Friedman, a Brooklyn-based school teacher, is getting married on July 31 in Rhinebeck, NY, the same day and rumored location where Chelsea Clinton will be tying the knot. The only problem? Chelsea's reported wedding location, a sprawling, 50-acre estate called Astor Court, sits directly in between Emn's ceremony location and her reception hall. And if the list of politicians and other VIPs who are set to attend the wedding is true, most likely the road that Emn's guest would need to take to get from point A. to point B. will be closed down.
"I know she’s not doing it on purpose," said Emn to Yahoo's Shine. "But Chelsea Clinton has taken what was supposed to be a special day for me turned it into hell."
"My guests will have to drive for an hour and a half to get from my ceremony to the reception, if they get there at all."
While Chelsea's wedding has been rumored to cost an estimated $2 million, Emn's wedding budget is significantly smaller and the couple has already given all of their vendors a deposit, making them unable to change the date. Chelsea Clinton Got Engaged On Thanksgiving
Sometimes referred to as "the Hamptons of the north," Rhinebeck is a small, but wealthy town 2 hours north of New York. Already wedding gifts for Chelsea and Marc are said to be arriving at the glitzy Beaux-Arts mansion, making it seem more and more likely that Chelsea's wedding is expected to take place there, rather than being a ruse for another location.
Still, Emn has not lost hope:
"If none of the guests can get to the wedding, we're still getting married. The officiant is only 10 minutes away. As long as we’re there, a witness and some one who can marry us, we’re doing it."
Emn's mother/wedding planner Orly, who is a "big Hillary fan," has also extended an invite to the Clintons: "As mother of the bride, I’d be honored to formally invite Bill, Hillary, Chelsea, and her new husband, Marc, to our wedding."
We're thinking Ehm would settle for the Clinton's just staying out of her wedding party's way.
