Rock of Love star is not getting married, will keep rocking.
Despite Star magazine's report late yesterday that Bret Michaels had proposed to his longtime on-and-off girlfriend and the mother of his two daughters, Kristi Lynn Gibson, Bret says the news is not true and that he and Kristi are committed but have no plans to marry. "We are not engaged yet," Bret told CBS's The Early Show this morning. "We're a work in progress."
Star broke the "news" yesterday that Bret had popped the question. According to an anonymous source, allegedly a friend of the couple, "Bret felt like now was the time because Kristi has been through so much with Bret and has been by his side every step of the way." And it's true, Kristi has stood by Bret through a lot—two children, 16 years, three seasons of Rock of Love and of course his near-fatal brain hemorrhage in April. But the couple is apparently not ready for marriage. The Many Loves Of Bret Michaels
Kristi was wearing what looked like an engagement ring when she accompanied Bret to tape an appearance on David Letterman's show on Monday (Bret's segment will air tomorrow night), but Bret says the ring is "a promise ring...a friendship ring, with benefits. Although they aren't getting married, Bret and Kristi will be costars this fall, on their new VH1 reality show. The Rock of Love bus has been parked, and now Bret Michaels: Life As I Know It will chronicle...um...Bret being Bret? Bret picking out bandannas and injecting insulin? All we know is that the show is scheduled to air this fall, and that Raine and Jorja apparently call Bret "Poppa Rocka." Uh-huh.
