At this year's MTV Movie Awards, Sandra Bullock showed Jesse James—and the world—that she is ready to move on with her life. The annual awards show marked Sandy's first televised appearance since estranged husband Jesse's sex scandal made her, understandably, seek shelter from the public eye. And to all who saw her "comeback," America's Sweetheart is clearly back and better than ever. No doubt she is still dealing with the pain of Jesse's betrayal, but she hasn't seemed to have lost any of her trademark humor and she just wants life to "get back to normal."
Receiving a standing ovation, Sandra arrived onstage to pick up the Generation Award, for her "riveting and diverse contributions to the film industry," in a career that spans nearly two decades. Presenting the award were co-stars Bradley Cooper (All About Steve) and Betty White (The Proposal), along with Scarlett Johansson, wife of Sandra's other co-star from The Proposal, Ryan Reynolds. Bradley lauded Sandra as "a once-in-a-generation talent" whose "ability to shine through any darkness" is an inspiration. Betty White described Sandra as "grace defined" and then cracked up the audience by called Sandy "a national treasure, which I know a thing or two about since my ovaries were recently named historical monuments." Love Lessons From Sandra Bullock's Movies
Sandra then had this to say to the supportive audience:
No matter what you might have seen or heard or read lately, I love what I do and I'm not going anywhere. Speaking of what you might have read or heard lately, I thought I'd take this moment to clear up a couple things.
I am not dead. Number 2, everybody has cellulite, not just me. Paparazzi need more flattering lenses. Whoever established the high road and how high it was going to be should be fired. And I've never gone 14 days without showering, while chain-smoking while crying on the shoulder of my sweet aunt Ludie, because I shower twice a day, I don't smoke and sweet Aunt Ludie died a year ago.
