Sarah Jessica Calls Matthew Broderick "Average"

Was it a Freudian slip? Sarah Jessica Parker described her 5’ 8” husband of 13 years, Matthew Broderick, as "average" during an interview with David Letterman recently to promote Sex and the City 2.

According to Us Weekly, the accidental insult happened as she talked about her son’s height:

"James Wilkie is, for the moment, more on the diminutive side. Some might call it a Napoleon complex, it his age gives him some confidence because he is so mature. He's a brainiac... well I think so, naturally," she said.

"He's not quite tiny - that's on my husband's side - well, actually Matthew is average... not in personality or in intellect.... no, no, no, no, no," she added, quickly catching herself. Sarah Jessica Parker: Getting A Divorce?

Whoops. SJP must have known that people would read into the comment, especially as the couple has constantly been plagued with divorce and marital strife rumors. So she tried to back-pedal her way out of it, which only made things worse. Is Sarah Jessica Parker Leaving Matthew?

"Let me clear this up. For the record, not in personality, intellect, charisma, talent, genuine likeability, well the list could go on and on," she said. "Anyway he's average in height as I understand so the odds of our son being average in height and weight is perhaps promising."

David Letterman didn’t let her off the hook so easy. When Sarah Jessica joked that her "brainiac" son had already been accepted to MIT, David Letterman quipped: "Even with an average father!"

I wonder what Matthew Broderick has to say about SJP’s passive aggressive description of his stature? At least she didn’t describe other, more intimate parts of him as being average too!
