Courteney Cox's ex continues his post-split tour of awkward interviews.
Uh oh. Has David Arquette has finally fallen down the rabbit hole?
David Arquette has always been a wacky guy, but his split from Friend Courteney Cox has clearly taken a toll on him, and he's acting even weirder than usual these days. As Us Weekly reported, Arquette gave Howard Stern a bizarre-o interview this week in which he rhapsodized about the possibility of having a baby with his ex, Drew Barrymore.
Arquette told Stern, "I know she is with Justin Long and everything, but would cool would an Arquette-Barrymore child be? From a pure breeding standpoint." No word from Drew on how she feels about being part of Arquette's babymaking scheme.
Arquette acknowledged that he hopes to have more children someday. (We're sure his six-year-old daughter, Coco, would appreciate the siblings.) He also said that he's open to falling in love again. David Arquette Wants Courteney Cox Back
The actor also confessed that he's been drinking heavily since his split from Cox, and related a cringe-worthy story about calling Tom Cruise "Sean" when drunk. Thankfully, he went on to explain to Stern that he has recently quit drinking. Arquette said that he'd had an epiphany: "When I drink, I become a maniac."
During the interview, Stern asked Arquette if he was having a nervous breakdown, and Arquette replied, "I believe so." Arquette explained that he's been seeing a psychiatrist weekly, and acknowledged that he knows people are worried about him.
In the days since the interview, however, the actor has taken to Twitter to explain that the breakdown was a joke, not a confession.
Arquette tweeted yesterday: "It is being reported that I'm having a Nervous Breakdown. I assure you am not. This stemmed from a joke I made on "The Howard Stern Show" and like many things in the Media it was mis-reported and sensationalized."
He went on to encourage people to focus their energy on larger problems, tweeting: "What I do wish is that we all become more focused on the more important [things] in this world like ending the War in Afghanistan and getting our brave men and women back to their families and out of harms way. It's time for us to focus on Love and positivity in our world so that we can cultivate a culture of caring and creativity." Courteney Cox Is 'In Love' With Brian Van Holt
Well, that sounds awfully sane to us. We don't know for sure what's going on with Arquette, but we hope he finds some of that love he's looking for soon.
