Mariah Carey & Nick Cannon Confirm They're Having Twins

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon
Nick reveals that twins are on the way, while Mariah offers up some maternal advice.

Last month, we wondered if Mariah Carey's verbal slip—referring to her unborn child as a "they"—meant that she was actually expecting multiples. Turns out we were right! Is Mariah Carey Expecting Twins?

On Thursday, Nick Cannon announced on his radio program that he and Mariah are, in fact, expecting twins. Although the couple waited quite a while to make the official pregnancy announcement (possibly due to Mariah's fear of having another miscarriage), Nick dropped the shroud of secrecy and told his listeners, “In order for my wife and I to have our life, we need to be up front and I need to be able to share things with you and be real.” However, Nick admitted that he didn't get permission from Mariah to let the cat out of the bag, so he could be in the dog house for a few days!

At least two very important people knew about the twins before we did: Barack and Michelle Obama! Apparently, Mariah couldn't hide her excitement while taping a White House Christmas special, and broke the happy news to the President and First Lady.

While in maternal mode, Mariah gave an interview to The Advocate, in which she offered some positive advice to bullied kids: "You have to stay strong, rely on your true friends, and try to get through it, as opposed to drowning in it. Look at how many people suffered during high school and came out of it a better, stronger adult. That’s the thing to focus on."

As you might expect, much of the Advocate interview focused on gay issues, including rumors about Mariah's own sexuality and hypothetical talk about the sexuality of her children. When asked how she would handle having a gay child (or if she "secretly hoped for" a gay son), Mariah gave the best answer possible: "I just hope for whoever’s going to be happy and that I can be a great mother to."

Awww, she sounds like a real mommy, doesn't she?
