Is America's "It Girl" too sexy for the Olympics? And is she ready to be the next big thing?
The name Lindsay used to immediately make everyone think of one person: Lohan. But that's all changed with the Winter Olympics. Now the Lindsey on everyone's minds is less trainwrecky and more girl-next-door sexy: Vonn.
The press has followed the gold medalist's every move since the Olympics began, and Vonn Mania has only grown since her bikini-clad photo spread in Sports Illustrated. Those pics caused quite a stir, specifically the seemingly innocuous cover shot (shown here), which ended up the "butt" of controversy among the easily offended and those with particularly dirty minds. 5 Surprisingly Sexy Winter Olympic Sports
Amid the subsequent media frenzy, Team USA's Julia Mancuso (herself a lingerie model) complained to SI that she was tired of "the popularity contest." Julia, the most decorated female Alpine skiier in Olympic history, suggested that the whole team was suffering because Lindsey had been singled out as the star. In response, Lindsey said that she was "bummed" and "hurt" by Julia's comments, but that she would continue to support her teammate. (Of course, no one really believes that they're friends...especially men who like to fantasize that the two could get into a catfight at any time.)
Lindsey's most recent controversy has nothing to do with looks—it's about jokes that she made about Tiger Woods' press conference:
When a member of her Vonn-tourage tells her that Woods gave a few friends hugs after ending his statement, she cracks, 'They're like, Yeah, you're awesome, you go have that sex.'...Then she describes a skit she would want to perform if asked to host Saturday Night Live: picture Vonn at Woods' podium, blue backdrop and all. 'There's something you don't know about me,' Vonn says in a faux solemn, apologetic voice. 'Tiger, you're like my idol, and I too have a sex problem...That would be freaking funny.'
