Will Ava and Deacon launch a Parent Trap now that their divorced parents are both single?
Ryan Phillippe and Abbie Cornish have broken up after three years of dating, her rep confirmed to People magazine. She was seen yesterday moving her possessions out of the home they shared, while he was out visiting friends with his kids with Reese Witherspoon, Ava and Deacon. Her rep would not comment on whether recent rumors of Ryan chatting up other women were behind the breakup.
Ryan and Abbie met while shooting the criminally underrated Stop-Loss in 2006, just as his marriage to Reese was ending. Last year Abbie, who's 27, told W magazine that suddenly being thrust into the spotlight by her new relationship was "a really difficult time for me. In a normal successful career, someone usually learns these things bit by bit. For me, it was like night and day. I woke up one day and there was this whole new thing I had to process and deal with."
Abbie had attracted some attention for her work in the Australian film Somersault and the indie Candy, in which she starred opposite Heath Ledger, but she was pretty much unknown to American audiences when she almost simultaneously began dating Ryan and appeared in the films A Good Year, with Russell Crowe, and Elizabeth: The Golden Age. She's been in Vancouver for the past seven months shooting Zack Snyder's girls-go-crazy action movie Sucker Punch, which can't have been good for the relationship. We are finding ourselves not so sad at this news. Now this frees Abbie up to embark on a torrid affair with her Somersault costar (and our hunky Australian crush) Sam Worthington, who is totally dreamy even when he's blue. And forgive us for wondering if Ava and Deacon might not be launching a little Parent Trap plan of their own now that their divorced parents are both single. Can't blame them for trying, right?
