Want These Romantic Heroes To Be Your Valentine?

George Clooney Valentine's Day
10 guys from romantic movies we'd like to cuddle up with.

This year, Valentine's Day falls on a Sunday, so we know how we're spending it: on the couch, with some takeout, a bottle of wine, and a great movie. Which got us to thinking about our favorite guys from romantic movies, and how we'd be happy to spend the holiday with any of them. Read on for our top 10 romantic movie heroes (and the occasional antihero) and let us know which ones we forgot.

Eddie Alden (Hugh Jackman) in Someone Like You

Don't laugh. This slight 2001 romcom starring Hugh, Ashley Judd, and Greg Kinnear is our very favorite sick-day movie, and not just for Ashley's lovely, relatable real-girl performance (or her adorable hair, which we are totally convinced we could pull off every time we watch it). No, we love this movie for Hugh's character, the lady-killing bad boy with a broken heart and a glorious Meatpacking District loft. And then there's the scene where he and Ashley hang out in the kitchen in their underwear. Yeah, that part is awesome.

Noah Calhoun (Ryan Gosling) in The Notebook

There is nothing not enthralling about Ryan's sleepy-eyed, gorgeously sensual performance in The Notebook, and if we didn't have such a girlcrush on Rachel McAdams we'd hate her for not only getting to play opposite him in the movie but getting him in real life for a time as well. The impossibly dedicated, impossibly romantic Noah spends half the movie sulking behind a scruffy beard, but then he starts making things with his hands, and then he takes Allie out in that rowboat…and then things get blurry.

Nick Mercer (Dermot Mulroney) in The Wedding Date

Sure, he's a hooker, but look at him! Nick, the male escort Debra Messing's Kat passes off as her boyfriend at her sister's wedding, is the ultimate, idealized fantasy of a sex worker: Tall, gorgeous, erudite, with a degree in literature from Brown, impeccable moves on the dance floor, and a way of filling out a suit that makes your knees weak. It's only the cherry on the sundae that he ends up falling for Kat and chasing after her in the pouring rain. We highly recommend this movie when every single one of your friends gets engaged at the same time.

Henry Roth (Adam Sandler) in 50 First Dates

Hear us out! Henry is one of Adam's most evolved characters, and his commitment to and tenderness with the brain-damaged Lucy (Drew Barrymore) is truly lovely to watch. Sure, his journey from womanizing walrus trainer to dedicated boyfriend and later husband has all the depth of a puddle, but we will not apologize for getting a little teary whenever Lucy watches the video he makes for her to remind her who she is every morning, or for laughing through the tears when Henry realizes that he loves Lucy and turns his boat around while singing the Beach Boys' "Wouldn't It Be Nice" at the top of his lungs.
