Who's have thought a D.C. suburb would rank as the most romantic city in the country?

Naturally, it's impossible to rank an intangible like 'romantic city'—what does that even mean?—but Amazon attempted to do so by compiling sales data of romance novels; sex and relationship books; romantic comedy DVDs; Barry White CDs; and sexual wellness products purchased since Jan. 1, 2010, on a per capita basis in cities with over 100,000 residents (sorry Woodbury, Kentucky). And the winner? Alexandria, VA! Huh. Virginia Is For Lovers, aside—who would've thought a suburb on the outskirts of Washington, DC, synonymous with George Washington's estate would have citizens so passionate about Pretty Woman DVD's and "Can't Get Enough Of Your Love Babe"? Virginia actually cleaned up with three cities in the top 20: Alexandria, Arlington and Richmond.
Miami, FL came in second for romance and first on America's Sexiest Cities list. This means inhabitants of Miami are most likely to purchase books about sexual wellness. This is believable; palm trees, beaches and weather that never sinks below 70 degress will do that to a person's libido. On the flipside, if you'd prefer to live in a city full of cynics and curmudgeons then pack up to El Monte, Calif.; Paterson, N.J.; or Miami Gardens, Fla. These towns have no need for Love Actually or the "Twilight" series.
