Sandra Bullock and her husband of four years, West Coast Choppers CEO Jesse James, are celebrating today, and not just because Sandra scored her first-ever Oscar nomination for her Golden Globe– and SAG Award–winning role in The Blind Side. Yesterday an Orange County judge ruled that Jesse's ex-wife, former pornographic actress Janine Lindemulder, is not entitled to visitation rights with their six-year-old daughter, Sunny, who has been living with her father and Sandra since Janine went to jail in January 2009 for tax evasion.
Sandra and Jesse have been fighting with Janine over custody of Sunny since October, when Janine was released from prison into a halfway house. Jesse told the judge yesterday that Janine's contact with Sunny is erratic, saying that she sometimes texts up to 20 times a day demanding to speak to her daughter, but then will be out of touch for a week. He said that Janine did not contact her daughter on Christmas Day, and that she speaks inappropriately in front of Sunny about prison. "There's a lot of conversation about prison or jail and things that I don't think a 6-year-old can comprehend or process," he said. What Would You Do To Get Your Husband Out Of Jail?
The Bullock-James marriage doesn't seem to be suffering under the strain of the custody battle, however. At the SAG Awards on Jan. 25, Sandra was visibly emotional while accepting her Best Actress statuette, and after thanking the other nominees and her coworkers on the film, she turned to her husband and said, "To my husband, Jesse, who works so hard all day, and you get dressed up in monkey suits, and you sit at a table with people you don't know. And I leave you there and then you come back with, like, Morgan Freeman's e-mail. I don't know how you do it. I love you so much, and you're really hot. And I want you so much." True Tales of Sex After Kids
Sandra has been very open in the past about how much she enjoys being a stepmother to Jesse's three kids, and has said she also might like to adopt a child. "We realized we had to take care of some other things on this planet first [before having kids]," she told In Style last year. "I hope to God when we get to a place where all is safe, calm, happy and healthy, it's not too late. If I waited too long, it's because we were supposed to do other things. If it is just too late? There are millions of children on this planet that I would be honored to call my own."
We cannot lie. We love Sandra Bullock. She just seems awesome, right?
