John Mayer Hijacks Taylor Swift's Heart

The other month, Taylor Lautner made us collectively "aaawww..." with his sweetly funny opening sketch on Saturday Night Live, in which he made out with a mannequin that had his girlfriend's face taped to the front. Not long after, Taylor Swift cut him loose, making us all long for the innocent, heady days of Taylor². Now, the rumors abound that Swift left Lautner for—of all people—John Mayer, noted ladies' man and repeated breaker of Jennifer Aniston's heart. Could it be true? The latest reports come out of Nashville, where John Mayer was taping an episode of VH1's Crossroads with Keith Urban. Swift joined Mayer in Nashville, to sing a few songs "or something." A source says that there was some heavy flirting in evidence, and that Swift was acting "like a young girl intoxicated by attraction to an older man, too young to separate artistry from douchery." During Mayer's performance, Swift cheered and made "hand hearts" at him (tee hee). And after dinner out with a large group, sources say that Mayer went back to Swift's room. Since rumors began, the entirety of the web has been up in arms, warning poor, angelic Taylor Swift—magical rainbow unicorn of the pop country genre—against Mayer's hard-to-resist charms. This Celeb Lover, however, thinks we should let her be. Because, in every young girl's life, there is a bad boy...a love lesson to be learned the hard way. There is alcoholism. Cheating. Heartbreak. The occasional run-in with the law. And, much as we shouldn't censor young adult books or support abstinence education, we shouldn't shelter Swift from experiencing the perils of adulthood firsthand.
