Why Elizabeth Edwards Separated From John Edwards

Although Elizabeth Edwards has had divorce papers semi-ready for nearly a year, it wasn't until fairly recently that her legal separation with John Edwards became legit.

What pushed her over the edge? According to Elizabeth's sister, it was when she met her husband's love child with Rielle Hunter:

"She said, 'I've had it. I can't do this. I want my life back,' " her sister, Nancy Anania, tells PEOPLE in the latest cover story.
