Dennis Hopper's Daughter Pushes Deathbed Divorce

Dennis Hopper's Daughter Behind Divorce
It's all about the money, friends say.

Actor Dennis Hopper, famous for his roles in Easy Rider and Apocalypse Now, while in the final stages of prostate cancer, is bizarrely filing for divorce from his fifth wife, Victoria Duffy. Rumor has it that a disgruntled daughter is behind things. Dennis Hopper's Deathbed Divorce

Friends say the divorce filing was daughter Marin's idea — his will, which was updated last summer, leaves 25 percent of his estate to Victoria.

"Marin is living there at the house with them now, as I understand, and Hopper apparently wanted her to become the executor of the will," a friend of Victoria's told ABC News. "If he's dying in the next four weeks, what good is this going to do? It must be the money."

"Marin has always hated Victoria," a friend of the family told HuffPo. "If she can get her father to reject Victoria on his deathbed, and get more money in the process, she'll be the happiest woman in Los Angeles." Advice: Your Ex Husband, His New Wife, Your Kids

Dennis also has a 35-year-old daughter, Ruthanna, and a 19-year-old son, Henry, from two other marriages. He and Victoria, who is 41, have been married since 1996, and by all accounts were happy.

"I wasn't aware of any problems," another friend told ABC News. "This was all a surprise to me. They came to visit us two years ago, and nothing seemed to be disturbing. Everything was just absolutely fine."

The divorce filing reportedly cites "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split, and offers support for Galen and Victoria — puzzlingly, it also requests joint physical and legal custody of Galen, which seems odd, given the unlikelihood that Dennis will live much longer. Dennis reportedly filed the divorce papers on Jan. 14 even though his lawyers would not let him sign other documents that day due to his mental state. If Dennis's cancer is indeed advanced to the point where he only has weeks to live, he is likely on a great deal of pain medication and probably isn't often lucid. The divorce filing, a family friend said, "is truly a tragedy, and sadly it's all about the money and who inherits what."
