8 Romantic American Idol Performances

In honor of American Idol Season 8, we count down the 8 most romantic AI performances ever.

In honor of season 8 of American Idol we count down the show's eight most romantic performances ever.

Agree with our choices? Think we got the order wrong? Did we miss the most romantic songs of all? Let us know in the comments.

 8. "Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman," Chris Daughtry

"Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman" was originally performed by Bryan Adams—big shoes to fill, but Chris Daughtry did it beautifully. Sure he's got no hair on his head, but his soulful singing and good looks make him one of those sexy bald guys. When he takes the mic off the stand and growls "a little tenderness, you gotta treat her right," somehow it seems like he really would treat us right.

7. "Ain't No Sunshine," Christina's Christian

Christina's Christian's smoldering eyes, subtle hip twitch and sultry voice made her "Ain't No Sunshine" performance one of the steamiest ever on American Idol. Although she was eventually voted off after a singing with a stress-related sinus infection, the then 21-year-old Christain proved she could bring the passion.

6. "A Song For You," Elliott Yamin

It may not be that hard to make Paula Abdul cry (see minute 5:18), but we have to agree with the spellbound woman, Elliott Yamin's rendition straight up moved us: if not to tears, at least enough to include him in this list.

5. "I (Who Have Nothing)," Jordin Sparks

For anyone who has ever envied rich girls who date rich boys (probably a lot of us) there's Jordin Spark's version of "I Who Have Nothing." The fervor and emotional depth Sparks brings to this love song make it hard to believe she's only seventeen.

Can you relate?

I miss Christina. She was wonderful. Although, I have watched AI every season since it started, but I am giving up the ghost this year. I am over it.

Sorry bdaddy, but Archeuleta's Imagine is a poor man's interpretation of Eva Cassidy's beautiful rendition. Plus he looks like a troll so all the romance is sucked out of the performance.

Wuzzle - beauty is in the eye of the beholder. That performance made a nation weep and, if only for a second, imagine.

While this was a fantastic post, I must say that I am VERY disappointed that David Archuleta's "Imagine" didn't make the top 8. Sarah - your posts are always amazing, but you missed the boat on this one. By the way - anyone notice Ryan Seacrest going to high five the blind guy last night? OOPS! How awkward was that?
