Beyoncé's mother, Tina Knowles, has filed for divorce from her husband of 29 years, Mathew Knowles, who manages their daughters' careers. TMZ says Tina filed the papers in Harris County, Texas, last month; rumors have flown for years that Mathew was unfaithful during the marriage, and he was even hit with a paternity suit in October by a pregnant L.A. woman. Tina and Mathew married in 1980 and have another daughter, singer Solange, and a five-year-old grandson.

Mathew began managing Beyoncé's career full-time in 1995, and Tina made most of the costumes for Destiny's Child before launching the fashion line House of Deréon with Beyoncé in 2006. Their careers kept the couple busy and often separate the past few years, and Bossip published reports in June that Mathew and Tina were living separately. 1 In 4 Kids In Divorce Becomes Parental Pawn

Beyoncé, who married rapper and mogul Jay-Z in April 2008, said last year in an interview with Giant magazine that she had learned from her parents' example that marriage is hard work, saying, "My parents are tighter now than ever, but they've been through it all. Solange was married at 17 to football player Daniel Smith, and divorced in 2007. When parents divorce, even adult children can start questioning their approach to relationships and the nature of marriage, so we hope both Knowles daughters and their families can work through the disillusionment, disappointment, and anger that can accompany a parent's divorce. Seriously, it sucks, especially during the holidays.
