Diamonds are ALWAYS welcome in my house, but they're not necessary, and some jewelery and engagement rings are waaay overdone.
I will admit that I don't like the diamondless engagement rings at all--very boring and plain looking. Even solitares look funny. I do believe, however, that a diamond really IS forever, and if you're gonna buy one, make it count. They're not for every occasion, but I honestly believe that alot of women would even go as far as to 'expect' them on certain ones....
A laptop case? C'mon, you can do better than that, can't you?
I must admit. I LOVE DIAMONDS!! Yes, I do, I admit it. I'm not fond of some of the rings. I think that if the stones are too large or too crowded by other stones, they can look tacky or just overdone.
Diamonds are wonderful. They are beautiful, and desired. I had a long term relationship with a man that bought me diamond jewelry. I don't think he spent a great deal, and often times the items he purchased were on sale. I didn't get many pieces from him, but every year, I would get an item.
I do not want an expensive diamond wedding ring, it's not practical.
Having been engaged 13 -yes 13 times ,and being married to 2 men who bought me LOTS of jewelery there was a time when I could relate. Now its all meaningless 'stuff"-I was never so happy as the day I pulled my diamond and wedding rings off !
