Reese And Jake Deny Breakup

People reported over the weekend that Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal had broken up after two years of dating, but representatives for the actors immediately denied the reports. Reese's publicist, Nanci Ryder, told People on Sunday, "It is not true," a sentiment that Jake's rep, Carrie Byalick, confirmed. Okay. Let's downgrade from DEFCON-2, everyone.

Reese, 33, and Jake, 28, met when they played husband and wife in the movie Rendition in 2007, and quietly began dating—so quietly that their reps, so eager to deny this breakup, never actually confirmed that they were a couple. So, um, we guess that's a confirmation or whatever. They are frequently seen together in Los Angeles, often with Reese's daughter and son from her marriage to Ryan Phillippe, ten-year-old Ava and six-year-old Deacon. Reese and Ryan separated in 2006 and the divorce was final a year later. Reese and Jake: Trouble in Paradise?

Jake's most recent celeb relationship was with Kirsten Dunst, whom he met through his sister, Maggie, her costar in 2003's Mona Lisa Smile; they broke up in 2004. Kirsten told Allure's December issue that she and Jake aren't in touch, which gives her a sad. Yeah, we'd be pretty upset too, because the prospect of both breaking up with Jake Gyllenhaal and not keeping him in the speed dial for emergency my-best-friend-just-got-engaged sex is a real tragedy.
