John Mayer: Should Have Had Sex With More Ladies
John Mayer missed plenty of opportunities, laments in his album Battle Studies.

You ever get the feeling that John Mayer knows exactly what he's doing? As part of an interview for his new album (Battle Studies) with the New York Times, the soft-rocker stated, "I should have had sex with more girls." While it feels like the singer-songwriter-verbal diarrhea-sufferer was channeling Alan Arkin's curmudgeonly, heroin-sniffing grandpa in Little Miss Sunshine, he may just be brutally honest and mildly disppointed.
Our buddies at HollywoodLife, hopes that this will make Jennifer Aniston a little less interested in John Mayer and were particularly galled by the quote, "They say I'm a womanizer … I say I haven't met enough women." As you likely know, the 32-year old musician and sometimes comedian has a tricky relationship with the media. At some points, he appears taciturn and ready to defend his privacy, which the tabloid media does not appreciate and, at other times, he appears overeager to share and pontificate… which the gossipmongers find distasteful. When you're damned if you do or don't, life gets complicated. Most of the album Battle Studies (a Wu Tang-esque title if easy-listening, adult contemporary rock has ever had one) deals with John Mayer's skepticism about love and his personal dislike for baseless judgment by outsiders (AKA you, us and Us Weekly). Which makes sense because many people seem to think that he is some variety of a douche wand. Read: D-bags Allowed To Be With Hot Chicks
Ironically, as Mayer discusses the disconnects between his soft and sweet music and his seemingly bitter, detached love life, you get the feeling that some of the same complaints stretch across his entire spectrum. He laments that his music has become too rote. That he has built a career defined by making the safe play despite doing special projects with the likes of Jay-Z et al. Juxtaposed with the lamentation of becoming professionally predictable is an almost wistfulness about missed romantic opportunities. He's a famous guy, he plays the guitar (like he was ringing a bell… go Johnny go go…), he's nice-looking and he's pretty funny/ charming/ affable/ Hugh Grant-like, he could be knee-deep in the beautiful babies, if he so chose. Or he could be married to someone (say Jennifer Aniston, Jessica Simpson or Jennifer Love Hewitt).
