The Evolution Of An Unlikely Heartthrob

Joseph Gordon-Levitt, former child actor, has mysteriously evolved into a full-fledged sex symbol.

Did you happen to catch Joseph Gordon-Levitt on Saturday Night Live? He's been on our radar for quite a few years now, and he should be on yours, too. Sure, he's no Johnny Depp, no Hugh Jackman. He's a new, refined breed of sexy.

We noticed him back in 2004 in Mysterious Skin (finally graduating from 3rd Rock From the Sun), yet he was still underage and it somehow seemed wrong to group him with adult actors (or find him attractive). He followed up with Brick in 2005, another great film, and it was no longer a felony to think of him as sexy. Then the end-all-be-all GJL moment: (500) Days of Summer. Dear god, he arrived.

This Love Buzzer was excited to see his SNL performance, as it would confirm or deny what we've been thinking all along: Is JGL Hollywood's newest underdog sex symbol? Love From New York, It's Saturday Night!

He opened the show with a Gene Kelly-esque musical number. Initally, we were a bit skeeved by the singing and dancing, but he won us over. After he did some fancy acrobatics, that is.

He mocked Jason Mraz (but actually makes us like his hit song). Second win for JGL.

He parodied Say Anything (and you know how we feel about Lloyd Dobbler.) Three for three. Yes, Say Anything

You can keep your Johnny Depp, People magazine. JGL is, hands down, this Love Buzzer's Sexiest Man of the Year. 10 Men Sexier Than Johnny Depp

JGL is the present-day Heath Ledger, and we mean this with the upmost respect to both actors. He's low-toned, and often understated. He's just about to boil over with sex appeal. He's about to blow up. For real. You heard it hear first. And most important: He's definitely worth checking out. So Netflix the hell out of his movies and let us know if you agree. 3 Things Weeds Teaches Us About Love
