Lindsay Price, whom you may recognize from Lipstick Jungle, this season's Eastwick, or the short-lived NBC remake of Coupling, lost both her boyfriend, How I Met Your Mother's Josh Radnor, and her job this week when ABC execs announced they were shutting down Eastwick. The Wednesday-night show, based on the John Updike novel The Witches of Eastwick and the 1987 film starring Jack Nicholson, had been struggling to attract an audience.
Lindsay is fast turning into the 2000s version of famous showkillers Paula Marshall or Ted McGinley. The poor girl just can't seem to make it to a full season of a series (with the exception of Lipstick Jungle, which was irreparably damaged by the 2007-08 Writers Guild strike). Back in June it seemed like her relationship with Josh was a bit of a make-good for her struggling career: "For a TV show she's doing called Eastwick, I actually got her a dictionary about witch terms," he told People over the summer. What 'How I Met Your Mother' Teaches Us About Love
Lindsay and Josh had been dating since August of last year; they met when she filmed a guest spot on How I Met Your Mother in 2007, but didn't start dating for over a year after that. At the time she was seeing her Lipstick Jungle costar Robert Buckley. In the summer of 2008, Lindsay and Josh met up in New York and began a low-key relationship. Yesterday a source confirmed to People, "They aren't together anymore."
So, you know, sad news. Dancing With the Stars couple Julianne Hough and Chuck Wicks also broke up this week after dating for about a year, so other famous couples with 12 to 18 months under their belts should probably make an extra effort: flowers, chocolates, promises you don't intend to keep. Because remember, celebrity breakups come in threes and America just can't take much more of this.
