After a tabloid pregnancy that many held suspect, Mel Gibson's girlfriend, Russian beauty Oksana Grigorieva, gave birth to a baby girl last Friday, a "few weeks early" but in good health.

This is the couple's first child together, but the eighth for Mel, 53, and the second for the 39-year-old Oksana, who has a 12-year-old son with former James Bond star Timothy Dalton.

Throughout the pregnancy, rumors circulated that—because of her weight—either Oksana was not really pregnant or had a major eating disorder. Sources close to the Australian superstar leaked his concerns about his skinny baby's momma to the National Enquirer, which reported that

Mel asked Oksana to try to eat more. Robyn gained tons of weight during her pregnancies, but she always managed to get back in shape. Mel's used to that kind of mentality. A skinny pregnant woman doesn't seem right to him." [Source: Celebitchy]

Nor, surely, did it seem right to his estranged wife, Robyn, whom Mel had six sons and one daughter with over their 29-year marriage. To her and the world's surprise, Mel announced on Jay Leno last spring that he and his extra-marital girlfriend were pregnant, just within a shocking month after his divorce filings. Of course, the affair that turned into something serious would remain super-model chic throughout the pregnancy.

Although Mel has announced his intentions to wed his Russian lover, no date has been set, and the femme fatale herself dismisses any marriage rumors, saying "Actually we have no plans to marry whatsoever," to the British show "GMTV." "I haven't thought about it—we haven't spoken about it."
