Insult & Injury: Dodgers Owner May Lose Team

The other Frank McCourt may lose his baseball team in his divorce.

Here's some baseball news we can get into: the husband-and-wife duo that runs the LA Dodgers are heading into a sticky situation.

Per People, Dodgers owner Frank McCourt and his wife Jamie are going their separate ways. The real-estate developer's largest property is the Los Angeles Dodgers and word on the street is the team is worth $722 million (thanks Forbes). So far so good. Read: How To Financially Prepare for Divorce

The problem? Jamie McCourt is the CEO of the ball club. Because she's the boss, her legal team believes that the Dodgers are a 50/50 venture.  Read: Divorce Laws, Demystified

Jamie hasn't said she's going to step down as CEO, and McCourt probably doesn't want to sell—unloading the franchise would be a major blow to Frank McCourt as this was the fourth professional team that he tried to buy. Although no one walks away empty-handed, as the team increased in value by $300 million in five years, the couple and the ball club could be headed down a long, rocky road. Obviously, they both want the team to be successful, but working together is not really an option, as it would likely break the "there's no crying in baseball" rule. With any luck, this tale won't become the premise for the fourth installment of the Major League series, though it would be great to see Charlie Sheen back on the big screen.

Steve Phillips' problems seem like relatively small potatoes, in comparison. Read: The Most Expensive Celebrity Divorces

It should be noted that this is not Frank McCourt of Angela's Ashes fame, though he was also divorced a few times. So much for the Irish dealing with something being wrong for the rest of their life rather than fixing it.

I think someone needs to discuss how they're going to break the bad news to Manny Ramirez. It seems like he'd take this kind of thing very hard.

He's absolutely rocking the media with his gestures! ESPN analyst Steve Phillips is at the center of the latest sex scandal which caused him to be fired from ESPN. To go along with the fact that the man is a total sleaze, and an insult to the male gender, his wife slapped him in September with divorce papers, after his mistress stalked his family, although for the noble purpose of telling them how much of a sleaze he is. Apparently, the soon to be ex-Mrs. Phillips listened, and now Steve Phillips is going to need a new job, and a personal loan for a divorce attorney, and probably somewhere to stay.

No money is very important much more that being cheated on like who cares? When you have real resources everything changes.
But it shows why a prenup/antinup is necessary

Most people care and feel badly hurt when they are cheated on. Money can't make up for that kind of pain.

You may want an open relationship (from your other comments), but that doesn't change how other people feel about it.

I don't know, it's just money. Being cheated on seems like a worse problem.

So who should get custody of the team?
