Minka may have to get used to Kate's presence front and center, though; according to last week's OK!, Alex and Kate have been looking at properties in Manhattan and he's asked her mother for her blessing to ask Kate to marry him. "Alex is planning on [proposing] around New Year's," the source said. "Usually Kate goes away with her family to Aspen, and Alex thought it would be romantic to do it front of a fireplace while snow was falling outside." Erm, to propose, the source means. We think. Although we have heard that people do other things in front of fireplaces at the holidays.
