Katherine Heigl and Josh Kelley welcome gorgeous Naleigh, a special needs baby from Asia.
In August we saw Katherine Heigl in a baby-gear store, then last week she told Ellen that she was expecting her daughter to arrive any day. Celebrity Love: Katherine Heigl And Husband Adopting—Too Soon?
Katherine caught a lot of flack from the members of the public who suspected she refused to birth a baby because she didn't want to jeopardize her superstar body with pregnancy. To those haters, we say: look at the gorgeous child (link to People.com below), and apologize to Katherine Heigl.
Grey's Anatomy captivator Katherine, 30, and husband since December 2007 Josh Kelley welcomed their daughter to the U.S. this week. Baby Naleigh, named after Katherine's mom Nancy and adopted sister Margaret Leigh, will turn a year old in November and reportedly has special needs.
How did Katherine make the decision to take on this baby? Last week she said Naleigh "was actually born the day before me in November, which I thought was really serendipitous and just kind of like a sign." In the past she had vocally supported adoption and said that because her sister is from South Korea, that was an origin close to her heart. Us Weekly reports that she and Josh started preparing to adopt in late 2008, when they filled out a 40-page questionnaire in which they had to disclose intimate details of their backgrounds and their attitudes towards parenting.
It may only be the first week, but so far those philosophies are working. In a statement Katherine's rep said, "Katherine, Josh and Naleigh are together and doing well."
Another insider reported that "they are thrilled to have a child in their lives, no matter what the challenges."
