Making The Case Against A Viagra Culture
By Melissa Noble. Posted on .
Viagra helps men fight ED. This much we know. But is that ultimately a good thing?
While we've known perfectly healthy men to pop the pills because they (incorrectly) think marathon sex is better sex (wrong!), we certainly think Viagra is needed for the poor souls who can't even muster the blood flow to seal the deal. What good is bedtime hugging without completing the task at hand?
However, Leith thinks if Viagra isn't good for women there really isn't any point to it. Would an abundance of erections overreach demand?
Let's say, conservatively, 10 million have got their hands on the drug. And let's say that each guy wants to have sex once a week. This means that, every year, the world needs to meet a new male demand for sex to the tune of 520 million units. And who will meet that demand? The obvious answer is women. But do the world's women want sex 520 million more times every year? Bottom line: there must be a shortfall. There must be guys out there with new demands, who are not having those demands met.
Oh, wow. So is he implying that Viagra just feeds the beast of infidelity and male sexual frustration? Is a dwindled sex drive (erectile dysfunction and its many forms) nature's way of balancing male and female sex drives? Putting a cap on the Pit Bull and releasing the lap dog Pomeranian, if you will?
What do you think?
