Kelis denies Nas visitation rights as she goes into labor with couple's first child.
The hip-hop divorce of the century was put on pause yesterday (sort of), as Nas and Kelis' day in court was interrupted by a trip to the hospital.
That's right. On the exact date the Queens rapper and 'Milkshake' chanteuse were scheduled for a legal battle royale—she says he's being a miser with child and spousal support, he says she's overestimating his wealth—the latter went into labor with the former's child at 10:30 am.
The bad blood between the two stars did not seem to subside with the arrival of their first baby. When Nas rushed to the hospital to witness the delivery of the couple's son, sources told AllHipHop.com (via Bossip) that he was not allowed in the delivery room—apparently at the request of Kelis. "It was his intention to be there for the birth, but unfortunately, he has not been allowed to be present," said a source close to Nas. “While this is clearly heartbreaking to him, Nas continues to offer his support and love to his new baby boy and his mother."
Nas and Kelis were married in January 2005 after meeting two years earlier at an MTV after party. Kelis filed for divorce this past April after a sex tape scandal and heaps of infidelity rumors. She was seven months pregnant at the time. Read: Nas and Kelis' Love Life: A Timeline
Divorce proceedings got ugly after the couple began to argue over finances, with Kelis demanding over $20,000 a month for spousal and child support.
