Anna Kournikova showed up flashing a giant diamond ring on the fourth finger of her left hand at a Pennsylvania World Team Tennis match Monday, prompting onlookers to speculate that she and longtime flame Enrique Iglesias are finally making it legal. Wait…what?!
They aren't married? Anna and Enrique have spent the past seven years since they met on the set of his "Escape" video alternately telling the press that they are married, that they've broken up, or that they're just joking. But we are still not convinced that Russians have a sense of humor.
The former World No. 8 was married to hockey player Sergei Federov for a few months in 2001, and took up with Iglesias shortly after that. And they have been jerking us around like the slobbering celebrity-watchers we are ever since. In 2004 Kournikova was photographed wearing a six-carat, $5.4 million pink diamond given to her by Iglesias, who told the media they'd been secretly married weeks earlier. Her rep said he was kidding. He again told the media that they were married, this time in 2007, and retracted it. Bridging The Gap Between Casual Sex And Commitment
Then, last year, Anna graced the cover of the September issue of Maxim and declared herself single. And in November Enrique declared Anna wouldn't have him for a husband, saying, "We talked about it all one day and she said that she wouldn't marry me. And she meant it. She said I'm probably just a guy she wants to date for a few years, then she'll leave me. I'm cool with that."
So is it commitment-phobia when you've been together for an entire presidential administration but can't define what you are to each other? We'd respect the couple's need for privacy if they'd just stop LYING. And if Anna would put a shirt on once in awhile.
