Jon & Kate: We're No Longer Speaking To The Media

The Gosselins issue a firm statement, saying privacy is important for the children.

Finally, back to real reality. Two weeks after announcing they'd filed for divorce, Jon and Kate Gosselin seem to be taking a cue from critics by issuing a statement that they'll no longer be speaking to the press about their high-profile, messy divorce.

TLC recently posted the following statement from the reality stars:

During this very difficult time we will be working to focus solely on the needs of our family. This includes no longer commenting publicly or reacting to media stories and speculation. Our goal is to do the very best for our children and that will be done as privately as possible. We appreciate the understanding, support and well wishes from so many.

Thank you.

In the opinion of much of the public, this statement was a long time coming. Gosselin critics have commented for weeks that Jon & Kate rose to fame at the expense of their children's wellbeing—some anti-fans feel Kate is a greedy social-climber, while Jon has been accused of cheating publicly with a 23-year-old woman. Against Cheating: A Man's Perspective

However, recent press coverage of the parents with their mega-brood suggests that the children's best interests are truly, finally what's at heart. Over the weekend Jon was photographed playing with the kids and pets on their massive property located outside Philadelphia, and last week Kate and the babes were spotted out together in beach gear.

Since TLC posted the statement no announcements have been made regarding the show's upcoming content, which won't air until late this summer in an attempt to give the family what a TLC spokesperson has called "some time to regroup."

Can you relate?

divorce is never easy, and to be going through it in front of the nation would be unbearably painful for everyone involved. my hope is that they are seeking wise counsel for the divorce as well as handling the media.

It took them long enough.

Who knows? Maybe if they stay away from the media, they could even get back together.
