Apparently the former Mrs. Rodriguez wants to play favorites with her ex-husband's love interests: she's made it clear that she prefers his latest lady, Kate Hudson, to the Material Girl.

According to PopCrunch, sources revealed to TransWorld News that Cynthia Rodriguez believes the Almost Famous star is an step up for the Yankees third baseman.

"Cynthia adores Kate," said the insider, "She's a huge fan of Kate's movies and thinks Kate is a better fit for Alex than Madonna was."

Cynthia may have a point there. Though the romance seems to have come from left field, Alex and Kate actually do share some common ground. Both celebs have gone through very public breakups over the past year. Hudson's tumultuous relationship with on-again, off-again boyfriend Owen Wilson ended—again—in April, whereas A-Rod's 'emotional affair' with the Madge and consequential divorce from Cynthia in late 2008 made for fertile tabloid fodder. And if the two won't be comparing war stories, Kate is purportedly also a huge baseball fan, following the Yankees to Dallas for their three game series against the Texas Rangers, according to People.com.
