John Mayer Bravely Still Looking

Despite rumors to the contrary, John Mayer says he's flying solo these days. The reclusive and intensely private recording artist told a vicious pack of paparazzi, photogs and celebrity gossipmongers that was not dating a little senorita named Scheana Marie.

To really make his stance salient, John Mayer asked an older gal to be his girl and planted a smooch on her. According to iVilllage, this came after using the awesome logic that if he had a girlfriend why would he say he didn't. Dearly departed Mitch Hedberg once said that he didn't have a girlfriend, just a person who would be really upset to hear him say that. And it looks like Mayer, a standup comedy aficionado, didn't mind cribbing a little from one of this generation's great comedians.

But where does this leave us in the John Mayer dating-go-round? He's clearly not with Jennifer Aniston any longer and he says he's not with this actress / waitress / temptress Scheana Marie. So what, exactly, is John Mayer up to? Is he taking a little time to figure out who he is? Is he making the most of his fame before he inevitably becomes less famous? Jeepers, is he working on a new album filled with the Aniston-related anguish and pain? Is he eating iced cream out of the carton and watching The English Patient over and over again? Maybe he realized what we've known all along, that he's too beautiful for this petty, little world of ours.
