Close on the heels of Salma Hayek's emphatic denial last week to People magazine in which she squashed rumors of a second, very lavish wedding that she was reportedly planning in Italy, comes the news that it may be happening after all. People magazine is now reporting that Hayek and her billionaire husband Francois-Henri Pinault are busy planning for what could very well turn out to be a multi-million dollar wedding in Venice this weekend.
Hayek married Francois-Henri, her on-again-off again boyfriend and baby daddy (with whom she has a daughter, Valentina) in an ultra low-key civil ceremony in Paris on Valentine's day. After which the gorgeous and unassuming actress seemed happy enough (or more likely professional enough) to skip her honeymoon to go right back to work on the hit television show 30 Rock.
Actor Antonio Banderas let the cat out of the bag by announcing at a press conference earlier this week in Spain that he and wife Melanie Griffith would be attending Hayek and Pinault's second wedding in Italy this weekend. Other guests include Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem. Apparently the couple is flying down their friends and family to join in the festivities at Palazzo Grassi, one of the homes owned by the Pinault family. The location has special significance to the couple, who first met there at a party in 2006.
The normally private actress has left people somewhat puzzled by her complete turnaround since last week. Not only did the buxom actress deny the news of a second wedding last week—she went so far as to say to People magazine, ''I think spending millions of dollars on a wedding is ridiculous and it has never been my dream. I would never do that.''
No doubt furious speculation (including the requisite "Is this a publicity stunt?") is going to ensue. It's more than likely that the intensely private star who lives her life on the down-low and with dignity was either trying to throw the paparazzi off the scent or just plain and simple had a change of heart.
