Tennis ace Andy Roddick is following his ex-flame Mandy Moore into matrimonial bliss, according to People magazine. The celebration of his marriage to his girlfriend of two years, model Brooklyn Decker, is scheduled to last two days near his home in Austin, Texas, this weekend.
"We feel lucky to have found one another," Roddick told People when the couple got engaged last year. Roddick and Decker met when he saw her picture in a magazine and asked his agent to introduce them, which we hear is also how Antony and Cleopatra first made the magic happen.
Decker got a head start on the festivities over the Easter weekend with a bachelorette party at home in North Carolina that included fellow Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Julie Henderson. People reports that the wedding will be small, with mostly family and friends in attendance, including James Blake and Mardy Fish, Roddick's Davis Cup teammates.
Roddick is currently ranked sixth in the world on the ATP World Tour. At the beginning of April, he lost in the quarterfinals of the Sony Ericsson Open to Roger Federer. Hopefully the wedding photos won't be as controversial as Roddick's famously Photoshopped June/July 2007 Men's Fitness cover, about which he quipped, "Maybe Rafael Nadal wants his arms back?"
With Federer recently hitched to his longtime girlfriend and Spanish superstar Nadal happily playing mixed singles, the tennis world is starting to look like a frighteningly staid place. We long for the days of Boris Becker shagging models in closets and John McEnroe and Tatum O'Neal throwing hissy fits all over the damn place. Looks like it's up to you, Andy Murray.
