Ashton Makes Twitter Love Wave For Demi

Kutcher gets fans to send all their love via Twitter to his beloved wife.

Yesterday we talked about how Twitter can be used for many purposes, not the least of which can be avoiding the end of your relationship (see: Mayer, John and Aniston, Jennifer.) Well, this morning we were treated to a really sweet use of Twitter as Ashton Kutcher organized a "love wave" for his wife, Demi Moore. Evidently, Demi gets her daughters out the door and to school at 7:45 a.m. and Ashton organized his army of Tweeps to send little love notes to his wife all precisely at that time. Demi received well over 3600 tweets in about 7 minutes flat! Some of the sweet ones she received were:

@mrskutcher as the mother of three daughters as well, I only hope they find someone half as dear as your husband

@mrskutcher I hope you have a wonderful day! It's off to a good start! You are SO lucky your husband loves you so much! Very sweet!

@mrskutcher Have a wonderful day and it is unquestionably clear how much you are loved by your hubby.

@mrskutcher Love for you from South America 10:22AM Equator the Center of the world!!! Yippie!!!

Demi was overwhelmed with the outpouring of support, replying to her fans with "what an incredible way to start the day thank you all so much and I love you all!"

See, this technology thing isn’t so bad after all. 3600 people sending you love notes in the span of 7 minutes really kind of makes the basic greeting card look kind of pathetic, doesn’t it? Nice one, Ashton!

Oh I think it's sweet. You can look for the hidden agenda anywhere, maybe this is just a nice thing that he did. Of course it helps Twitter, but aside from that, it's a nice thing for a man to do-- to get support for his wife.

And not to be too polly-anna, but I think it would be nice to wake up to a bunch of messages from people telling me how great I am! ;)

Ugh am I the only one who thought this was saccharine, cheesy, unauthentic, and LAZY. Seriously, People who don't know me telling me they love me? No thanks. Like they even know. Plus, while I admit it was a clever use of the Kutcher tweeps and pretty clever tweep mobilizing, it is a gesture that honors the sender rather than the receiver. Seriously. do something nice that doesn't draw attention to youself, that is a love gesture that means more than all the bandwagon tweets ever can.
