Well, the red carpet showdown between Brangelina and Mayerston that the world anticipated was a no-go. The world watched the red carpet and an entire Oscar telecast to view the first public crossing of paths of Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie and, of course, it never happened. Brad Pitt and a stunning Angelina Jolie arrived looking gorgeous on the Oscar red carpet but practically sprinted through, not really stopping for interviews and avoiding long stints in the press stalls. Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer avoided the red carpet altogether, coming into the Kodak Theatre backstage after it was reported Jennifer was running late, taking three hours longer than Mayer to get ready. We waited again with baited breath as Jennifer made her on-stage presentation with Jack Black. The camera panned over to Angelina smiling a couple of times. No big reaction there.

Best scoop of the night was Jennifer being flirty cute with John Mayer? Overheard was the star leaning in whisper into her rocker boyfriend’s ear, ''I really love you, every part of you.''

Ok, so crisis avoided. Hopefully everyone has moved on and there wouldn’t really be any drama if they ran into each other anyway. Then again, those who have remained in decidedly separate Team Aniston and Team Jolie camps for years want justice served. Lara Croft vs. America’s Sweetheart? Not tonight but stay tuned!
