Actually I am pressured too and I am only 20...but I think this is more my own insecurity and pressure than made by the society. I am not as worried by the crisis as by the fact that my boobs are unproportionally small to my thighs and butt! My boyfriend doesn't mind though, I am the one with the issues. But yes, I agree that women have been sexualized..and WAY too much. It is flattering to a certain extent but there is only so much we and the society can take, isn't there? I am hoping we will wake up sooner or later. |

I could not agree more! The pressure we have on us to look good (and young) is intense at times. It is anything but fair, but that is how a large part of society places value upon us. Having said that, I have had a facelift and my eyes worked on and feel better for it. I have girlfriends who have had more done. Luckily my genes were good and my boobs are more than adequate, but if they weren't I probably would have fallen in that trap too. I hate to say that I can't see things changing in my lifetime. |

At age 50 all my friends and I ever talk about is eye jobs, neck lifts and sagging thighs. Last night at a cocktail party--men on one side of the room and women on the other--men are worrying about economic sagging and behaving very seriously and the women are worrying about skin sagging and having a good laugh fueled by wine.
Why are women so much more worried than men about how they look? What, beer guts don't count?
Botox, brow lifts, implants--how far would you go? Do you think everyone needs a touch up after a certain age?
