Last year, Page Six reported that Gwyneth Paltrow skipped out on hubby Chris Martin's most recent Coldplay tour in order to rub elbows with billionaire bachelor Jeff Soffer instead. Last month, word from Britain's Now magazine was that her lifestyle blog, Goop, was bringing down her marriage by bringing too much public attention to her private life. And recently, the rumors got to be so big that even Gwyneth's mom, Blythe Danner, was reportedly compelled to defend the marriage.
But now Gwyneth has had enough of the gossip. And she tells this month's UK edition of Elle that everything between her and Chris is just fine, thank you very much. In fact, she believes the rumors all stem from the most un-strange and non-eyebrow-raising fact in the world. Simply put, she and Chris just don't like to be seen in public together.

"We've never ever walked down a red carpet together, we never will," she tells Elle. "If people think that that means we're not together, then – ha ha ha! – so be it."
Ha ha ha! We want to believe you, Gwyneth. But we can't help but wonder: What's so bad about being seen in the big, bad world with the one you love? After all, you used to do it all the time with former beaus like Brad Pitt and Ben Affleck.
A closer look at Gwyneth's interview gives us a giant hint. "It doesn't behoove us to be a public couple," she says. "He certainly doesn't want to be that."
Let's read that again. "He certainly doesn't want to be that."
That's right. She said "he."
Now, if we were the kinds of people who read into things, we'd say that there's only one thing to conclude from this quotation (which is most certainly being taken wildly out of context): That Chris Martin doesn't want to be seen in public with his wife.
But of course, that's not really what she said.
Or maybe it is.
Regardless, maybe it's time to lay off Gwyneth for a little while. After all, if things are really as bad as all the tabloids suggest, the last thing these two want (or, we should say, the last thing Chris wants) is more attention.

Gwyneth, however, may be a different story.
