Evidently, we have the first sign of the apocalypse: Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt from MTV’s smash reality show The Hills are now married. It was a small race to release the news with Perez Hilton breaking the story first, but the couple selling the exclusive rights to their photos and full story to Us Magazine. I will try to get through this without gagging.
The couple wrote their own vows and eloped to Mexico, where they were married in a secret ceremony in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Spencer reportedly said, “Heidi, from the moment you came into my life, I knew my life would never be the same without you. You are the light in my life like the sun to the earth! Your loving warmth makes me want to be a better person. Being with you, I feel complete. I'm honored to even be able to call you my wife. You are the most amazing, loving and caring woman on this planet. I will love you forever and always.” Montag admitted that, “The minute we said our vows, I couldn't stop crying.”
Someone who might not be thrilled with the union, besides most of common-sense loving America, Lauren Conrad and Heidi’s sister, Holly? How about Heidi’s mother, who Heidi had not told she was getting married as of releasing the story to Us Magazine? Evidently, when Heidi called her to tell her something might be up, her mother asked if she had broken up with Spencer and unknowingly said that her stepfather was upset that Heidi wanted her biological father to walk her down the aisle. So, evidently in order to avoid that drama, she decided to sneak off and get married, saying, “I don’t know when I’ll tell her.”
Can we at least hope she told her prior to the article going live?
I just wrote about this last week and I’ll reiterate my point: this relationship and the signals it’s sending are just bad juju. This girl has lost most of her friends, they’d already broken up for Spencer hitting on other women while they were engaged and just recently she lost her job because of him. Scripted or not, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: all of your friends cannot be wrong. Marrying someone who can help you get photo ops but who loses you respect in the eyes of the people who love you is the first step onto a downward slide to nowhere.
So, is this part of the show or is this real? Can you really get behind a relationship where you know EVERYONE hates your man? This is someone who has isolated her from everyone who loves her, including her own family. If it’s part of a script, it’s an interesting stunt. If it’s really happening, this is really disturbing.
