Becoming Republican For Love

Falling in love changes a woman's political views.

Today, we are more of a couple than ever. We can actually talk intelligently about politics without throwing objects at each other. We are more in love than ever. Who would have thought that agreeing about politics could help out a marriage? It does. We get along so much better. We agree on so much more. And, we don't hold political grudges anymore.

Now this may sound like a saying from the hippie days of the 1960s, but our relationship is much more cosmic now. We are in love on a deeper level. And all because I changed my political party affiliation and came over to the dark side, or is that the right side?

Can you relate?

thank you chacha, this woman sounds pathetic. She basically mimicked her husband. She should have stayed an independent, your not staying true to yourself, if you change parties all because of listening to your husbands radio show. not a good reason to switch.

okay so she only listened to him and then became a republican? that sounds really wishy washy. your politics should be for you not someone else.

but what she was really doing was listening to her husband and agreeing with him and now they fight less. nothing wrong with that.

So why can't he listen to her? Why does she have to change. Sounds like she'd rather capitulate to him than be herself.

This isn't a male/female thing. This is just an instance of people growing together and with each other.

It's almost like changing your religion for marriage. it sounds unlikely, but I believe if someone were to change their political views it would be because they've truly come to believe it. People are so passionate about their political beliefs so it's not something you can just pay lip service to.

When two people with different opinions and backgrounds get married, they will unavoidably become similar to each other in a lot ways - that's just what happens in marriage. You start to see things from their point of view and vice versa. People often get divorces when they can no longer deal with the differences. They have always been there, though. You have to see past your differences and learn to accept your spouse the way they are.
