Secret Love Lives of US Presidents

US Presidential love lives and their influence on our own bedroom behavior.

Politics and Your Bedroom

How does the passion of the Presidency affect your own bedroom? Although the U.S. is a free nation, many of the general population take latent cues from the White House. An example of this was the Kennedy administration. Think of the dichotomy that existed within that relationship and the split in American culture at that time: part of the country embraced the picture-perfect marriage while the groundswell of free love and sexual revolution was beginning to be heard. Clinton's infidelity caused one of the largest rifts in American opinions in history, with Americans split on whether he should be impeached or the issue ignored per other Presidential infidelities.

Looking Ahead: The Next Four Years

Both men now running for the White House have seemingly strong yet different marriages. Think about whose relationship you tend to want to emulate: the friendly-but-conservative display of affection of the McCains or the open PDA of the Obama camp? In tumultuous times like these, does the stability of the President's love life make a difference? History would say that it does. How does that impact your own bedroom? Well, for one, how sexy do you think you'll feel if the economy continues to crash?

In this election year, we can take our cues from history as we choose not only what will happen in front of the podium and in the Oval Office, but what happens behind closed doors in the White House as well as our own.

Can you relate?

I agree with BigAl. I have a hard time believing that just because they didn't get divorced means they had a good marriage. I feel like a lot of couples "toughed it out" because of public perception, that to me is not a good marriage. It's not a good life.

mary todd was obsessed with her son who passed away and made abe miserable. this article acts like these couples had the option of divorce. most of these presidents were forced to make it work for the pretense and because society demands that a president not be divorced. First black president, but where is our first divorced, single parent president.
