Why wasn't John Edwards' affair a bigger deal?
So we got a touch of egg on our face. We were incredibly skeptical when the National Enquirer broke the story of John Edwards' affair (even after they knocked it out of the park on that Siamese twins story that 1 time). So, we were a little shocked when we found out that he indeed did have an affair with old Rielle Hunter. This is, obviously, a shocker (heh). Back in 2006, we (at Tango, not the Dish's fastidious sub-staff, we always thought there was something smarmy about his smile and $1,000 haircuts) thought that the John and Elizabeth Edwards were the best couple among presidential candidates. Ugh.
Clearly, all was not as rock-steady as we guessed. At any rate, not to get into the nitty-gritty of this sordid ordeal but the Enquirer promised a second act to this morality tale: a love child. Borrowing from MJ, Edwards claims that "the kids is not my son (daughter)." The New York Daily News reports that Hunter will never have a paternity test though Edwards said he'd submit to it. Edwards claims that it would be impossible for Rielle's 5-month old daughter couldn't be possibly his given that their tryst ended in 2006.
In retrospect, it's sort of strange that this wasn't more of a story. A) America loves a good and dirty affair; and B) we love seeing the high and might brought low. So, why didn't this thing get more traction? Was it because the Natty Inquisitor was in the lead? Was it that John Edwards is by most measures a pretty decent guy (ambulance chasing claims notwithstanding) and not technically in public office? Or have we just had enough of the sordid and want the substance? Whatever the case may be, it looks like this is just another bump in the road for the resilient Edwards fam. If they can get through the death of a child and the cancer then a little ass on the side probably isn't that big of deal. Luckily, he didn't even have to promise that he'd make Elizabeth president.

Why let John Edwards define himself as a narcissist? How is he different from any other cheating husband? Seems to me that he’s just a grade A (and stupid) Adulterer.
If John Edwards is a narcissist, then lets compare this to the DSM psychiatric criteria for his personality disorder:
Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) is a personality disorder defined by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM IV-R), the diagnostic classification system used in the United States, as “a pervasive pattern of grandiosity, need for admiration, and a lack of empathy.â€
A pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behavior), need for admiration, and lack of empathy, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts, as indicated by five (or more) of the following[1]:
1. has a grandiose sense of self-importance (John Edward wants to be president)
2. is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love (Admits self-love and seems to loving to preen)
3. believes that he or she is “special†and unique (obviously)
4. requires excessive admiration (obviously)
5. has a sense of entitlement (ran again after losing with Kerry, believes he DESERVES to be VP)
6. is interpersonally exploitative (used his wife’s cancer and love to gain sympathy while destroying her love with adultery)
7. lacks empathy (doesn’t care that he has forever defined his children’s lives with his adultery)
8. is often envious of others or believes others are envious of him or her (everybody want to be me!)
9. shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes (claimed he was 99% honest if Enquirer was 99% wrong!)
So, let John Edwards call himself a narcissist. Obviously, someone has told him this in the past. So, if you voted for Edwards, then you have to ask yourself why you would put the United States in the hands of such a person?
Of course, if John Edwards was smart, he’d have claimed that Rielle was simply a surrogate holding his baby (from artificial insemination). Elizabeth had full knowledge and expected the child to be turned over, but John was meeting with Rielle after she reconsidered. This explanation even covers the money payments. Well, seems like John really ain’t too bright!! Just a poor liar and a cheat!
Gitmo which is horrendously old news will likely get more news coverage over the next two years than the Edwards story will, because leftists would rather attack their own country over and over and over and over than make a single one of their own accountable for anything.
Liberals will be in downplay mode, eager to get back to trashing their own country - saying:
“Poor Edwards’ family. They must really be hurting right now. Now let’s get back to talking about how horrible America is...and how Conservatives are to blame – never minding the fact that liberals have been in control of congress for how long?.â€
That is the difference….
When a conservative messes up, other conservatives pressure the idiot out of whatever office they hold or hope to hold. Conservatives don’t start making excuses, yipping again about 6 year old stories designed to announce to the world how much they hate their country.
When a liberal lies, cheats, pays off a mistress and insults others in the process – well then liberals immediately go into all the reasons why it’s no big deal.
Well here’s a news flash for the wild eyed, protest giddy leftist who seems to think this isn’t a big deal….. this story is not going away in a week.. or two… or three….Why?
Because Edwards is STILL lying about half the story… He lies even when he “supposedly†is coming clean. Of course Clinton really said it best – it all depends on what the definition of “is†is…… l

I feel sorry for Elizabeth Edwards. This is the last thing she needs. This whole Edwards scandal will probably make the media dig up McCain's affair with Cindy McCain and ask why McCain left his first wife. Washington is a sad place.
