Viagra As Athletic Supporter

The erectile dysfunction medication is being used by athletes looking for an edge.

Fine, this is somewhat afield of what we typically cover but it appears that Vitamin V is being used by some sporting types to, ahem, boost their "game." Per a report that ran on Fox Sports, some athletes (and all-around good guy Roger Clemens was mentioned again) use Viagra for "off-label" needs, such as increasing endurance by maximizing blood flow and overcoming impotence onset by an abundance of artificial testosterone.

There have been studies in the past that suggest Viagra as a cure for jet lag, so the logic goes that it could help athletes perform at high altitudes. And it makes sense that cyclists could use it, have you ever ridden a bicycle for 4 hours and felt like doing anything? We're willing to bet that Lance Armstrong has a ton of Pfizer stock. Evidently, some enterprising dudes are liquefying their Viagra and chasing a syringe of steroids with a needle of the hard stuff.

There is time and place for ED medication and it should be used strictly for procreation or recreation not sports amplification. Getting an edge in bed is acceptable; getting an edge in sports is cheating. We used to think of the little blue diamond in a wholesome way, as a way for a 45-year old man to, say, bond with a girl young enough to be his daughter. But that reputation has been sullied. What will we tell the children? "I learned if from you, dad. I learned it from watching you."

Can you relate?

Viagra as a steroid? That is weird. But yes, they should ban it just like other drugs.
