So Long, Boring Bridal Showers
Bridal shower alternatives that beat tea-sipping small talk.
We hope that bridesmaids everywhere dying to throw their bride-to-be a fabulous shower won't ultimately settle for a fluorescent-lit reception hall or cramped living room where guests are obliged to "ooh" and "ahh" at vases and platters.
Of course, that's all well and good, too. But, WEtv.com came up with a list of shower ideas that don't involve building a "fouquet" (faux bouquet) out of plastic ribbons. We liked the ideas so much, we're swiping some and adding a few of our own:
- Wine Tasting
If you and your guests live near a vineyard, lucky you. If not, check with local wine stores. Good for mingling and sipping.
- Golf Outing
Tigress Woods or not, a day spent out on the links and under the sun will surely draw more smiles than unwrapping a new salad spinner.
- Baseball Game
Hot dogs, peanuts, Cracker Jacks, and plenty of men around to buy the bride a beer! Risk the annoyance of fellow fans by swapping seats throughout so each guest has time to bestow wisdom on the wife-to-be.
- Take a Class
Be it pottery, floral arrangement, belly dancing or otherwise, learning a new activity is a great icebreaker for shower guests who aren't well-acquainted.
Discussion
Belly dance class is a great idea. Genevieve is a genius, she should definitely do event planning on the side.
