It Takes Three, Baby

The third year's the charm when it comes to men and marriage readiness.

A recent poll revealed that British men generally pop the question after dating a woman for three years. Or, two years, 11 months and eight days, to be exact.

Curiously, women feel ready for marriage an average four months earlier than their blokes. In fact, ten percent of women in the UK decide to propose themselves.

This three-year mark must be working for the Brits. The 2006 divorce rate in England fell to the lowest in nearly two decades -- just 1.2 percent of the population.

Can you relate?

would be curious to know what the respective numbers are for the US. maybe the brits are slow, but they take their time and seem to do substantially better over the long term..come to think of it, 3 years may not be a long time to make a long term commitment.
