Some Boston fans need someone to blame for the loss.
Rupert Murdoch, the honcho of Fox’s parent company NewsCorp, referred to this last Super Bowl as the best day in the company’s history. They had the most viewers, the best game, and brought in the most bucks. The only way it would have gotten better was if the New York Times was hit by a meteor or if Ted Turner owned the Patriots. The day was not so good for Tom Brady. He spent a lot of the afternoon taking jarring hits from the Giants voracious defense and may have not been 100% from his ankle injury. But some speculation is laying this blame at the feet of his lady, Gisele Bundchen. The gossip page of the Boston Herald asked if she was a jinx and some fans are digging in.
It’s like the quote from Airplane,” Jim never has a second cup of coffee at home.” “Tom Brady’s never lost a Super Bowl before, so what’s the new part of this equations. And wait, didn’t Leo DiCaprio’s movies suck while he was dating her and then he made The Departed and Blood Diamond? That Succubus has to go.” Or it could have been the pounding he took all day by the Giants. Or the seeming change in game plan by the Patriots. Hopefully no one is going to be able to place her in the stands for the game that Bucky Dent hit a homerun to beat the Red Sox or the ground ball that somehow got between Bill Buckner’s legs in the 1986 World Series.
We wonder if Tony Romo, Tom Brady, Gisele, and Jessica Simpson shouldn’t take a vacation together and work out some why to quash this theory for good. Maybe if they both play well in the Pro Bowl* everyone will forget about losing their last games to the Giants.
*Note the Pro Bowl is the NFL’s all star game and we’re not sure if they actually keep score.
