Egyptian Woman Seeks Legal Ruling On Text Divorce

According to a Fatwa (religious ruling) a while back, Islamic couples can be divorced by thrice emailing a divorce demand. And for the first time this law is being tested in Egypt. A woman, after failing to promptly return a call from her husband, received three divorce notifications via SMS from her husband. According to Islamic law (Sharia), a man does not need a court of law to get divorce. Only to declare his intent three times.
