High Schools Exploring Healthy Relationships Classes

WAYNESBURG – The Sandy Valley Board of Education learned Monday the district has received a $4,000 grant to teach a healthy relationships course, according to high school Principal David Fischer.

Now that’s more like it. A little hard work, instead of wishing on lucky number 7. While $4,000 may not make much of a dent, it’s a good start. A number of universities are teaching classes in ‘soft skills’, including a course on happiness at Harvard (nerds) and a relationships course at South Dakota State. Do young people not talk to friends and parents anymore? And what ever happened to the good old-fashioned practice of carrying an egg around in a shoe box for a week, uphill, both ways, in the snow?
