Breakups In Person Keep Dating Civil, Experts Say

Adam Levine may have dumped Jessica Simpson electronically, but most regular folks are inclined to take a higher road when delivering bad news.

That’s one of the findings of a new survey about the psychology of communicating.

When it comes to breaking up with someone or surrendering other types of negative information, the vast majority of those who responded to the survey said they want to do it in person.

This trend is everywhere. Brittney dropped K-Fed via text, Finnish Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen dropped his mother of three girlfriend via SMS and a Dubai mufti just made text message a legal way to get divorced. Tango feels that breaking up is a personal thing and should be done in person, when possible. And if doing so in person is not possible, the next best options, in order, are: telephone, certified letter, telegram, singing telegram, sky writer/sports arena jumbotron. People have been writing ‘Dear John’ letters for centuries, the text break-up is just cowardice catching up with technology. [HA. Love!]
