Tear Me Down and Juice Me Up: Part II

By YourTango

At the beginning of the 3rd day, I had already dropped 7 pounds. That weigh in was crucial, because I was facing a weekend with my fiancé on the couch next to me watching football and eating football food. I shocked myself for making it that long without eating a single morsel of food. That surprise combined with the fact that I had made it so far, propelled me to stick with it.

By the end of the cleanse I had lost 9 pounds. I was in the 120’s, territory on my digital bathroom scale—a place that my weight hadn’t traveled since I was in high school. Needless to say, the Blue Print juice cleanse has made a believer out of me. At the end of each day, I had ingested a pound of vegetables, which is a great way to get your body to a place where it appreciates healthy food.

The nutrient power is simply unbelievable. One of the juices is a natural antihistamine. As someone who is plagued with chronic sinus congestion, the pineapple mint juice was one of my favorites. Halfway into it, my nose would drip a little. By the bottom of the bottle, my sinuses were wide open.

Even better than the nutrition factor of the cleanse was what it taught my body about hunger. I don’t need to feel full all the time. A little gnawing nibble in my stomach can be a good thing. Best of all, the cleanse reveals that food does not necessarily equal energy. I did 5 mile runs and 45 minute spin classes while I was doing my cleanse, and maybe I was a little more fatigued afterwards, but I felt strong during the workouts.
By far the best part of the cleanse is that it makes me appreciate everything I eat. I love treats, but now a garden burger and can of low sodium soup seem like treats. When that sentiment wears off, it means it's time to do another cleanse.

If I haven’t convinced you yet to give the juice cleanse a try, let me address what I’m sure is your first piece of skeptical criticism. I’m sure you’re thinking there is no way to keep the weight off once you start eating again. I am happy to tell you you’re wrong. I have kept off 7 of the 9 pounds. Not perfect, but I’m still a beginner.

I would be lying if I said that the craving for pizza and Pink Berry had totally left my body. They haven’t. The accomplishment of losing some weight and completing the cleanse, however, gives me the will power to walk by the fresh pie of plain cheese and the pretty white swirls of frozen heaven.

So if you’re up for the challenge, and in the mood for some real results, drink up and slim down.
